For those who dare to be different
Jelix is an early-stage venture capital firm dedicated to backing daring founders across Australia and New Zealand.
Where we invest
We invest from pre-seed to Series A, and partner with daring founders whose ambition and capabilities we look up to.
We are sector agnostic, but we take a special interest in these areas:
🔬 Deep tech
We love investing in atoms, not just bits. We embrace visions of ambitious founders with world-changing solutions at the frontiers of science.
🧠 Automation & AI
We believe that AI will empower people to do more and achieve things at a pace and scale never before possible.
Decarbonising the economy will transform our world. The scale of the problem, and the potential opportunity for solutions, is vast.
💻 Developer tools
We’re excited by the potential of developer tools to advance the pace and quality of how software is written, run, and maintained.
⚙️ Complex coordination
We want to hear from founders re-imagining existing industries with solutions that bundle and integrate complex supply chains to deliver revolutionary customer experiences.
⤴️ Vertical SaaS
Purpose-built software, driven by a deep understanding of industry-specific challenges, to create category-defining companies.
Throughout the whole process, you can expect us to be friendly, prepared and ask candid questions.
If it’s a ‘no’ from us, we’ll get back to you quickly and tell you why it wasn’t a fit.
👋 1. Introduction
We’ll get to know who you are, what motivates you, and what makes your startup special.
We’re super excited to meet relentless founders with a daring vision who care deeply about solving problems for customers.
🤝 2. Meet the team
Next, you’ll meet more of our team and ensure we have a shared vision for your future.
In the same way we are making a choice to back you, we also want to make sure you want to partner with us for many years to come.
🔍 3. Deep dive
We’ll lean into areas we’re eager to know more about.
This might involve talking to your customers, trying out your product, and diving into your metrics.
🤨 4. Decision
At the Investment Committee meeting, we decide if we want to invest. We’ll invite you to pitch and answer a few questions before finalising our decision. We’ll follow up immediately with our decision.
Depending on the round, we can lead and set terms, or can co-invest on terms set by others. We keep the terms fair and simple, so we don’t waste your time.
🧾 5. The legals
Once we commit to an investment (woo!), we will complete legal due diligence (e.g. IP, liabilities, company documents, etc.) and work to finalise the investment documents.
🚀 6. Day 1 and beyond
We believe in guiding, not dictating; this partnership is driven by how you work best with us. We don’t want to run your business, and we only invest in founders who we believe can make the right calls.
While it won’t always be smooth sailing, we'll always act transparently and expect you to do the same with us; we believe that transparency breeds trust, and ultimately, we believe that partnership is about how we come together in the tough moments.
